A meditative rhythm. My swim strokes are consistent. I’ve been at it for over an hour. The sun shines through the glass top hitting the bottom of the ocean floor, as I transcend through its rays. I turn my head as I lift for a stroke and I see the surface of the water from beneath. The perspective of a sea creature.

I find myself passing with the fish. I see dozens, no, I look again, hundreds of fish at the very depth. I can’t see where the fish end as I look out to the floor of the deeper ocean.

A passing thought “perhaps if I was a fish I’d never know that there was another world. An interconnected existence.”

Then I feel a deep desire. “Shall I swim into the unknown depth?” It looks even bluer. I’m mesmerised. I’m enticed by the vividness of the colour. I can’t stop myself. Deeper and deeper I go.

The beauty of the blinding light on the turquoise ocean is my primal scene. This blue has made this swim a remarkable one. It is incredible to see such beautiful things. To immerse myself in it.

I feel like I could swim forever. My whole body is working but it feels so much more transcendent. Another passing thought “be like water my friend.”

A meditative rhythm comes again. Another hour passes, then a chilliness sets in, just as I feel that I’m truly becoming like the fish. I swim faster to warm up, then towards the shallows. I float on my back in the bright sun, held by the sea, and completely connected.
